Victorian keeper Sophie Reid joins Renegades

The Melbourne Renegades have today announced the signing of wicket-keeper batter Sophie Reid for WBBL|12.

Since 2022 Reid, has established herself as a consistent presence behind the stumps and at the crease in both Victorian and WBBL teams. She is known for her flexibility, combining her glovework with innings batting in both the top and middle order.

A left-handed batter Reid has been a part of Big Bash since WBBL|08, when she debuted for the Melbourne Stars. She has played 30 WBBL matches, scoring 260 runs with a highest score of 46, and has taken 15 dismissals behind the stumps (11 catches and four stumpings).

At state level, Reid has been a regular for Victoria in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL). During the 2024/25 WNCL season, Reid delivered a standout performance by smashing her maiden WNCL century, an impressive 106 runs, against Queensland and contributing significantly to Victoria’s batting depth.

Melbourne Renegades head coach Gavan Twining said Reid’s versatility and Big Bash experience made her a valuable addition to the squad.

“Sophie is a quality keeper who has shown she can bat anywhere in the order, and that flexibility is really valuable in T20 cricket. She knows the Big Bash well and we’re excited to see her in red this summer.”

The remaining list spot will be announced after the completion of the T20 Spring Challenge.
