Melbourne Renegades have signed South African all-rounder Chloe Tryon for WBBL|12, adding one of the world’s most experienced T20 players, and a proven WBBL performer, to the squad.
World-class all-rounder Chloe Tryon joins the Renegades
A veteran of more than 15 years at international level, Tryon has established herself as one of the game's premier all-rounders, combining fearless power-hitting with skilful left-arm spin. Tryon made her debut for South Africa as a 16-year-old in 2010 in a match that saw her take two wickets in her first over, including a wicket with her very first ball, a feat no other woman had achieved in a Women’s T20 World Cup match.
The 32-year-old arrives at Melbourne Renegades with an outstanding resume that includes more than 3,800 international runs and over 100 international wickets across ODI and T20I cricket. She was named ICC Women's Player of the Month in May 2025 after becoming the first woman in ODI history to score a half-century and claim a hat-trick in the same match, underlining her ability to influence games in multiple ways.
Tryon is a familiar name in Australia having played 57 WBBL matches for three clubs: the Hobart Hurricanes, Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers. She has scored 869 runs at a strike rate of 128.17, including 32 sixes, and taken 21 wickets with the ball, with best figures of 3-2.
Melbourne Renegades WBBL Head Coach Gavan Twining said Tryon's experience and versatility would make her a valuable addition to the squad.
“Chloe is a genuine match-winner who has performed on the biggest stages in world cricket, and we’ve seen first-hand what she can do in the Women’s Big Bash. Her power at the back end of an innings and her left-arm spin give us real flexibility, and her experience will be valuable for our group. We’re thrilled to have her in red this summer.”
