A Pinch of Salz: Renegades Add Young All-Rounder to the Mix

The Melbourne Renegades have secured the signature of emerging all-rounder Will Salzmann, with the talented 21-year-old joining the club on a one-year deal.

A product of the New South Wales system, having been born and raised in Sydney’s south-west, Salzmann has been widely regarded as one of the country’s brightest young prospects.

He represented Australia at the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup and has featured in the Marsh One-Day Cup over the past two summers, including a standout match-winning performance against defending champions Western Australia when he claimed 4/48 and hit the winning runs.

A powerful middle-order option and skilful seamer, Salzmann now makes the move south to take the next step in his career with the Renegades.

“I’m pumped to be joining the Renegades and adding to this young and exciting group,” Salzmann said.

“I’ve loved my time developing through the NSW system and now I’m keen to test myself in a new environment, learn from some experienced players, and hopefully make an impact for the Gades this season.”

Renegades General Manager James Rosengarten said Salzmann was an outstanding addition to the club’s emerging core.

“Will’s an impressive young cricketer with great character and has really honed his craft at domestic level over the past few seasons,” Rosengarten said.

“He’s shown his potential at state level and has already delivered in pressure moments. We see him as someone who can contribute to the team immediately this season and also grow into a key player for us over the next few years.”

Alongside the experienced Renegades squad that includes Jason Behrendorff, Brendan Doggett and Adam Zampa, Salzmann joins the elite emerging Australian talent of Jake Fraser-McGurk, Fergus O’Neill and Ollie Peake as the club builds towards a new era of sustained success.
