Bekker at the call for Renegades in WBBL|11

The Melbourne Renegades have re-signed emerging talent Charis Bekker for the upcoming WBBL|11 season.

Bekker returns to the club after making her debut in red last summer in her hometown of Perth against the Scorchers.

Signed as a replacement player while the team was in town, the 21-year-old went on to feature in five matches in WBBL|10, impressing with her composure while proving to be a versatile option with the ball.

Equipped with her left-arm orthodox spin, Bekker stood up in big moments including taking the prized wickets of Meg Lanning in the derby - finishing with stingy figures of 1/9 from 4 overs - and Grace Harris in the WBBL Grand Final.

Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said:

“Charis is a great young talent who adds balance and depth to our squad. She’s a calm performer, brings energy to the group, and has continued to grow her game over the past year."

"We were pleased with the impact she made in her first season with us, and we’re looking forward to seeing her take another step forward in WBBL|11.”

Bekker said she was excited to return to the Renegades and continue building on last season’s experience.

“I loved my time with the Renegades last year, it was such a whirlwind but enjoyed every minute of it,"

"It’s such a great group of players and staff, and I learned a lot from being part of that environment.

“I’m looking forward to getting back out there this season, contributing wherever I can and help push for another strong campaign.”

Bekker joins a strong Renegades list ahead of WBBL|11, with more player announcements to come in the lead-up to the season.
