Opening batter Courtney Webb is locked in for another two seasons with the Melbourne Renegades.
Webby weaves two more
Webb, a Renegade since 2018, has built her reputation in red, knock by knock. Normally the steady hand in the middle order, last summer she took on a new challenge at the top of the order and showed she could set the tone from the very first ball.
She finished the season with 258 runs at a strike rate north of 120, an ideal foil for opening partner Hayley Matthews and a perfect fit for the Renegades’ fearless brand.
Among her highlights was a half-century against Perth to steer the Gades home to their first win on the path to the WBBL|10 title.
Fast forward to the now and Webb remains in great touch, launching the domestic season in style by blasting a career-best unbeaten 123 for South Australia against Tasmania in last weekend's opening round of the WNCL.
Courtney Webb said:
“It’s always special pulling on the Renegades kit and I’m proud to be going around again.
"Opening the batting last year was a new challenge but one I really enjoyed, and it gave me the chance to take on a different role for the team."
"With the experience I’ve gained and the form I’ve started this season in, I feel good about where my game’s at and I want to keep building and contribute even more.”
General Manager, James Rosengarten, said:
“Courtney’s been such an important part of our team for seven years, and elevated her game from scoring valuable middle order runs, to showing she can also open the batting and lay strong foundations for us to launch into our innings."
"We're confident she’s going to have another massive impact this summer, both as a run-scorer and a leader within this group.”
Webb’s re-signing is the first move in the Renegades’ signing blitz, with more big names to follow as the squads take shape ahead of WBBL|11 and BBL|15.
