Renegades Champions League Team of Tournament announced

A team of 11 players, plus a 12th player, has been named following the completion of this year’s tournament – presented by Truck Assist.

Championship-winning Sri Lanka captain Ejaaz Alavi leads the side, which features three of his Sri Lanka teammates – Malith Cooray, Kalhan Sineth and Player of the Final, Arosh Janoda. 

 

Janoda was named Player of the Final for an all-round performance, which included 35 runs (from 18 balls) with the bat and 2/21(4 overs) with the ball. 

 

Runners up, India, have three representatives in the team of the tournament, including the leading wicket-taker Saumil Patel who took ten wickets across the five matches. 

 

Playing for the first time in the competition, Paras Lamichhane and emerging player Dipersan KC are the two Nepalese representatives in the team, whilst Bangladesh also have two representatives with batter Mahdee Islam and wicket keeper Safi Anaan.

 

Sri Lanka coach Sanahasa Fernando was named the Coach of the Tournament and India's Banaj Bhatia was named Team Manager of the Tournament.

The Melbourne Renegades Champions League is a competition that aims to increase the number of South Asian cricketers who progress from recreational cricket to professional cricket in Australia and to showcase the talented South Asian players and match officials living in Victoria.

 

This was the seventh edition of the tournament, with the 2022-23 competition proudly supported by Truck Assist.
