Kershaw returns to the Renegades

The hard-hitting left-hander fills the final primary spot in the Renegades’ 15-player squad for WBBL|08.

Kershaw, 30, has played 24 WBBL matches across four seasons in the competition, with the Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes.

She was a member of the Renegades’ inaugural squad in WBBL|01 and is hoping to make an impact in red this summer.

“I’m excited to be back at the Renegades. It’s going to be great to get back out on the road for WBBL and to reunite with a lot of mates who I’ve played with before,” Kershaw said.

“My power hitting is something I consider a strength, and hopefully that’s something I can bring to the team. That’s been my style of play since I was younger, hitting the ball hard and playing with freedom, and hopefully it comes off more often than not.

“Last time I played WBBL was during the hub year, which was quite a challenge for everybody involved. It’s a bit more ‘old school’ this year where we get to play at plenty of different venues and meet new fans, which is something I’m looking forward to.”

Kershaw has returned to Victoria this summer after a stint with the ACT Meteors and is captain-coach of Carlton in Victorian Premier Cricket.

“It’s great to have Erica back at the Renegades and she adds another dynamic, experienced batting option to our group,” Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten said.

“We believe we have a nicely balanced squad, with plenty of batting and bowling options to call upon. We can’t wait for our WBBL|08 campaign to begin next Sunday in Mackay, and to have our Renegades back playing matches in front of our fans in Victoria this season.”
