Gades bolster bowling group ahead of 'Canes clash

Elliott joins the Renegades after a standout domestic season with Victoria, highlighted by strong performances across both the Sheffield Shield and One-Day Cup competitions.

The right-arm fast bowler has displayed consistency with the new ball and through the middle overs, earning recognition as one of Victoria’s most reliable performers with 42 wickets from his 25 career One Day Cup games.

It was last season's white ball domestic comp in which Elliott shot back into BBL calculations, claiming 14 wickets at an average of 23.28, including a career-best 7-12 against Tasmania at the Junction Oval.

He was ultimately rewarded with a spot as a replacement player with the Renegades BBL|14 Squad.

“I’m really excited about the opportunity to join the Renegades again, I spent a little bit of time with last year's squad and enjoyed the experienced,” Elliott said.

“It’s been a rewarding season with Victoria and to now take that into a Big Bash environment is something I’ve been working towards. There’s a strong group here and I’m looking forward to contributing wherever I can.

“I’m keen to bring consistency and intent with the ball and make the most of the opportunity in front of me.”

Renegades General Manager James Rosengarten said Elliott’s recent form and development made him a strong addition to the squad.

“Sam’s performances at domestic level over the past couple of seasons has been outstanding. He’s earned this opportunity, and we see him as someone who can contribute meaningfully within our bowling group,” Rosengarten said.

Elliott has signed as a replacement player for Will Salzmann who was ruled out with a hamstring injury suffered on the eve of BBL|15.

Fresh off a win against the Brisbane Heat in Geelong, the Melbourne Renegades will return to GMHBA Stadium on Sunday to take on the Hobart Hurricanes.
