Gades Launch Take Home Turf Party at GMHBA Stadium

The Melbourne Renegades are giving fans the chance to take home a genuine slice of the action at GMHBA Stadium, with a unique post-match experience at the club’s second Geelong home game in BBL|15.

The Take Home Turf Party will see supporters invited onto the ground following the final ball of the Renegades’ December 21 fixture against the Hobart Hurricanes for an on-ground celebration where fans can collect their own piece of GMHBA Stadium turf.

With major resurfacing works planned by Kardinia Park Stadium Trust (KPST), the opportunity arose for the Renegades to turn the end-of-season turf replacement into a memorable post-match fan moment.

With a limited quantity of 500 available, the Take Home Turf Party will leave fans with a piece of sporting history from GMHBA Stadium specially carved out by curators as a memento.

Alongside the turf giveaway, players will stick around on the field for signatures and photos, giving families and young fans the chance to meet members of the Renegades’ BBL15 squad.

Renegades General Manager James Rosengarten said the Take Home Turf Party initiative celebrates the club’s continued connection with Geelong and the Kardinia Park precinct.

“Ground resurfacing works happening after this BBL match presented us with a unique opportunity that we wanted to pass onto our fans,” Rosengarten said.

“Playing in Geelong is an important part of our season, and this gives our fans a new way to feel genuinely connected to our team and our games at GMHBA Stadium,” Rosengarten said.

Kardinia Park Stadium Trust CEO Gerard Griffin said the experience highlights the venue’s commitment to delivering memorable events for the community.

"We’re proud to work with the Renegades on activations that make GMHBA Stadium more than just a place to watch sport,” Griffin said.

“Inviting fans out on to the field, giving them the chance to take home a piece of the turf while rubbing shoulders with the players, is exactly the kind of unique, family-friendly experience we love supporting.”

The Renegades take on the Hobart Hurricanes at 7.15pm, with gates opening from 5:45pm.

Fans are encouraged to stick around post-game with the Take Home Turf Party to begin shortly after stumps, with zones clearly marked on the ground for turf collection and player interaction.

The turf, available in front of the Players Stand at the southern end of the ground, will be distributed in gift boxes in a first-in-first-served basis until exhausted or the Take Home Turf Party concludes at 10.45pm.
