The Melbourne Renegades have added one of England’s brightest young prospects to their WBBL|11 squad, signing 19-year-old batting sensation Davina Perrin.
Big Bash bound: Perrin to light up WBBL|11 for Gades
A powerful right-hander, Perrin has already made waves across England’s domestic and international pathways. She was a standout at the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, earning plaudits as one of the most exciting emerging talents in the game.
At just 15, Perrin made history as the youngest player ever selected in The Hundred draft, signing with the Northern Superchargers in 2022. Fast forward three years, she starred in this year’s Eliminator by blasting a record-breaking century from just 43 balls, featuring 15 fours and five sixes.
Her arrival gives the Renegades a dynamic top-order option and a fitting replacement for Hayley Matthews, who withdrew from this year’s tournament with a shoulder injury.
“I’m buzzing to be joining the Renegades and to experience the WBBL for the first time,” Perrin said.
“It’s a competition I’ve watched for years, the standard is incredible and it’s the kind of environment you want to test yourself in as a young player.
“I love the energy and the identity the Renegades play with, so to be part of that environment is really exciting. I can’t wait to get to Melbourne, meet everyone and hopefully make an impact for the team.”
Melbourne Renegades General Manager James Rosengarten said Perrin’s signing underlines the club’s intent to build around young, world-class talent.
“Davina brings power and presence, she’s a player who really suits our fearless approach at the top of the order,” Rosengarten said.
“At just 19, she’s already shown her ability to dominate quality attacks, and we’re excited to see her develop further in red this season.”
Perrin joins fellow overseas players Alice Capsey, Deandra Dottin and Issy Wong on the Renegades’ WBBL|11 list.
The Renegades’ squad assembles on Monday ahead of their season opener in Brisbane on November 9.
