Emerging fast-bowler Sara Kennedy has re-signed with the Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming WBBL|11 season.
Melbourne Renegades sign rising quick Sara Kennedy for WBBL|11
Kennedy, 18, returns to the Renegades on a one-year deal after impressing in her debut campaign as a replacement player during WBBL|09.
The left-armer featured in 11 matches and claimed four wickets, including a breakout performance against the Sydney Sixers at the WACA where she dismissed Maitlan Brown and Ashleigh Gardner in the same over.
Since her first season in red, Kennedy has continued to make strides in her development. She recently signed a two-year contract with Tasmania for the WNCL and earned selection in the Australian Under-19 squad for their tour of Sri Lanka, further underlining her growing reputation as one of the country’s most promising young quicks.
Kennedy’s ability to swing the new ball and her composure under pressure adds firepower and variety to the Renegades’ pace attack ahead of the new campaign.
Melbourne Renegades General Manager, James Rosengarten, said:
“We’re very happy to have Sara back in red for WBBL|11. She made a really strong impression during her first season and has clearly continued to develop her game since then. Sara is a talented young bowler with a great attitude and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact she can have this summer.”
Kennedy said she was excited to continue her journey with the club.
“It’s really exciting to be back with the Renegades,” Kennedy said. “I learned a lot from my first season and I feel like I’ve grown a lot as a bowler since then. I’m keen to keep building on that experience and contribute wherever I can to help the team this year.”
Kennedy joins the Renegades squad looking to blend emerging young talent with proven experience as preparations ramp up for WBBL|11.
