Renegades Academy returns to Darwin for 2025 Top End T20

The Melbourne Renegades Academy will head north this August for the 2025 Top End T20, taking on a packed schedule across Darwin.

It’s set to be a high-quality hit-out, with teams from the Stars, Strikers, Scorchers, Hurricanes, ACT Comets, NT Strike, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and Chicago locked in for this year’s tournament – running from 14–24 August.

The Renegades will play six games over nine days, facing a mix of international and domestic opposition. With Big Bash contracts still up for grabs, the tournament shapes as a prime opportunity for players to push their case ahead of BBL|15.

A strong Renegades Academy squad has been named, featuring several players with senior Renegades experience alongside emerging talent from the Cricket Victoria and Renegades high performance pathway.

Melbourne Renegades coach Cameron White said the tournament had become a key part of the club’s development pathway.

“It’s an awesome opportunity for our players to test themselves in tournament conditions, especially at this time of year when match play is hard to come by,” White said.

“The Top End T20 continues to grow in quality and competitiveness, and we’re excited to see how our group performs.”

Will Sutherland will captain a Renegades outfit featuring seven players from last year's Big Bash team with Josh Brown, Xavier Crone, Harry Dixon, Fergus O'Neill, Ollie Peake, Callum Stow all making the trip to Darwin.

The Academy kicks off its tournament against a familiar foe, Melbourne Stars, on 15 August at DXC Arena.

Renegades will provide updates in the lead up and coverage throughout the tournament.
