A talented young keeper/batter, Harper made his debut for the Melbourne Stars in BBL|06 before signing as a replacement player with the Renegades in BBL|08.
Only months later, he was a key member of the club’s inaugural BBL title, having scored more runs (341) than any other Renegade for the season.
Harper broke into Victoria’s Sheffield Shield squad in 2015/16 and exploded onto the scene with a record nine dismissals on debut.
A freak accident in just his second Shield game saw the right-hander taken to hospital with a heavy concussion after he was inadvertently struck on the helmet by the bat of Jake Lehmann. Harper spent three weeks in hospital and showed enormous character on his road to recovery.
Concussion again truncated his campaign in BBL|09, but not before he was able to crunch 279 runs at the top of the order.
Harper’s rise to stardom continued in BBL|10 as he was named Renegades Player of the Season. He was the only Renegade to feature in all 14 matches and was the team’s leading run scorer amassing 351 runs at a strike rate of 124.02.
The wicketkeeper comes from a sporting family, which includes his uncle, Laurie, who was Victorian Player of the Year in 1997-98.
Off the field, Harper loves playing golf and is studying teaching at university.
