Fast bowler Jake Haberfield is the Melbourne Renegades final signing for BBL|03.
The 27-year-old has had an impressive start to the season after crossing from Adelaide, topping the Bartercard Premier Cricket wicket-takers list with 25 scalps, at an average of just 14.32.
His brilliant form for Footscray-Edgewater, which included a haul of 7-82, resulted in a call-up to the Victorian Bushrangers line-up in November where he was the side’s best bowler against Western Australia with three wickets.
A genuine wicket-taker at state level, Haberfield has the best domestic one-day record of any current player, having claimed 54 wickets in just 31 matches.
He has the third-best bowling average of all time (21.40) behind only Dennis Lillee and Geoff Dymock, and also the third-best strike rate (26.0) behind Stuart MacGill and Shaun Tait.
Haberfield crossed to Victoria during the off-season and spent the winter months training with the Victorian squad.
Known as a bowler capable of serious heat while also possessing subtle variations, Haberfield adds depth to the Renegades pace stocks already including James Pattinson, Peter Siddle, Nathan Rimmington, Will Sheridan, Jayde Herrick and Matthew Gale.
