The Melbourne Renegades have unveiled several new and re-signing WBBL and BBL players as tickets go on sale today for the upcoming KFC BBL season at Etihad Stadium.

Leading the signings is New Zealand international batter Amy Satterthwaite. The White Ferns left-hander will become the club’s new captain, signing a three year deal with the Renegades.

“I’m very proud to be named captain of the Melbourne Renegades. The next few years represent a great opportunity for this club to make a real mark on the WBBL” Satterthwaite said.

“We want as many fans as possible to get out and support this season. On-field, we’ll have strong competition for places which is a good way to be and I’m looking forward to working with our coach Tim Coyle and the leadership group including new Vice Captain Molly Strano.”

Joining Satterthwaite in the Rebel WBBL squad is fellow Kiwi international quick Lea Tahuhu who returns for her second season while former Stars player Hayley Jensen also makes the move into red.

“It’s great to be back in red for WBBL|03! The support last season was amazing and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again in December. We have high hopes for what we can achieve this season and we can’t wait to get out on the field at Etihad, Geelong and Camberwell in front of the fans”

In the BBL squad, tall young Queenslander Jack Wildermuth has signed a multi-year contract with the club. Wildermuth has played nine matches for the Brisbane Heat but will now make the move to Melbourne

“Getting down to Melbourne will be great this summer. The Renegades attract great crowds at Etihad Stadium and with the Geelong match to look forward to, I’m excited to be part of it. I’ll look to learn as much as I can from the senior players in our squad. There are exciting times ahead and I’m glad to be part of it.”

The Geelong match against the Sydney Sixers is scheduled to go on-sale to the general public on 24 October.

Victorian Matt Short has also signed a new contract with the club while Tom Cooper has extended his Renegades contract by a further 3 years.

Melbourne Renegades CEO Stuart Coventry said the season be the club’s biggest to date both on and off the field.

“There is a lot to be excited about this season. We’ll start our pre-season in both Geelong and on the Sunshine Coast, we’ll have more BBL matches than ever before, we’ll have a WBBL team ready to make their mark on the competition and that’s before we look at the big entertainment plans at our matches this summer,” Coventry said.

“BBL and WBBL will be everywhere this summer. Our membership campaign has started strongly and today you can buy your tickets and lock in your Derby seats. We want to see packed houses this summer.”
