The Renegades traded Webster in from the Hobart Hurricanes in exchange for wicketkeeper Matthew Wade.
Webster showed his batting capability early this season in an impressive 121 as captain of the Cricket Australia XI during a seven-wicket win over South Australia in the JLT One Day Cup in September.
The 24-year-old, who stands 200cm, is also a useful off-spinner. Webster played five matches for the Hurricanes in BBL|06, including a knock of 67*against the Adelaide Strikers at Adelaide Oval.
“Beau will provide a really good option for our squad,” Melbourne Renegades Head Coach Andrew McDonald said.
“He’s an emerging player who has shown great promise throughout the early stages of his career and we’re excited about what he can achieve with the Renegades over the next few years. We have a great group of experienced players who I know will be keen to work with Beau in the seasons ahead.”
“Matt obviously chose to move back to Tasmania during the off-season for his state cricket and it makes sense that he’ll continue that journey through the BBL as well. We’d like to thank Matt for his contribution to Renegades and wish he and his family well.”
Wade, 29, played 13 games for the Renegades after joining the club in 2014.
