Renegades Announce New Captain

10 January 2018

The Melbourne Renegades have named Cameron White captain for the remainder of the Big Bash season.

The leadership vacancy was created when regular skipper Aaron Finch was named in the Australian One-Day squad earlier this month.

White has been in dominant form for the Renegades this season.  He’s been dismissed just twice from his six matches and has posted scores of 79 not out, 51, 3, 49 not out, 35 not out and 68 not out against the Scorchers on Monday night.

He leads the competition with 285 runs at an average of 142.5 and strike-rate of 116.  He’s also smashed 23 fours and cleared the fence eight times this season.

Finch produced a Man of the Match performance in the side’s win over Sydney Sixers in Geelong.  He scored 51 from 34 balls that night and then hit 22 off five balls on his way to making 43 in the first Derby against the Stars.

White will lead out the Renegades when they take on rivals Melbourne Stars on Friday night at Etihad Stadium.
