Gades fall to undefeated Scorchers

27 December 2021

The Melbourne Renegades have been outclassed by an in-form Perth Scorchers outfit at Marvel Stadium.

Having lost Aaron Finch early, Mackenzie Harvey (45 off 40) and Sam Harper (32 off 25) combined to lay a strong platform.

The pair put on a dangerous 56-run partnership, with their shot selection and placement a real highlight of the innings.

However, the wickets started to tumble, as the Renegades slumped to 7-105 in the 17th over.

It took a Jack Prestwidge (22* off 11) and James Pattinson (16 off 8) cameo to sway momentum and lift the first innings score to above 150.

In reply, Cameron Bancroft (23 off 19) and Josh Inglis (23 off 18) started positively for the visitors.

Zahir Khan managed to break the opening partnership, bringing Inglis down the crease and spinning past his outside edge.

Captain Nic Maddinson then chimed in, removing Bancroft shortly after.

From there, Colin Munro (58* off 32) put on an exhibition of powerful striking, joining the in-form Mitch Marsh (42* off 33) for the match-winning partnership.

The Renegades will be eager to turn their form around when they host the Hobart Hurricanes at Marvel Stadium on the 29th of December.
