TV: Channel 10 from 7pm (AEDT)

The weather:

Hot during the day but a cool change expected between 6pm and 8pm.  This will see the temperature drop to around 25 degrees.

The key match-ups:

Mohammad Nabi v Michael Beer

They are two of the most accomplished spinners in the competition and boast miserly economy rates.  Nabi has given away just 5.5 runs per over this season (4th best in the competition), while Beer concedes 5.91.  Both bowlers will be relied upon during the powerplay and will be hard to get away.  The player who collects a wicket or two could sway the momentum.

Dwayne Bravo v James Faulkner

The all-rounders play similar roles for their respective sides.  Both bowl at the death and feature in the middle of the batting order.  Bravo has been in excellent touch with the ball this season.  He's picked up 11 wickets (number two overall) including three against Sydney Sixers on Wednesday night.  Faulkner is coming off unbeaten knocks of 35 and 20 and will be a man the Renegades will be looking to keep in check.

Kane Richardson v Stars top-order

The South Australian has been in excellent form for his new side.  Richardson conceded just 13 runs from his four overs against the Sixers.  His ability to limit the scoring power of Glenn Maxwell, Kevin Pietersen and co will be important in the final result.

The form:

The Melbourne sides have made contrasting starts to the season.  The Renegades have three wins from their opening four matches while the Stars are looking for their first win of the campaign.  After a loss to the Scorchers the Gades bounced back in fine style, beating the Sixers by eight wickets.  Cameron White (49 not out) continued his good season, while Aaron Finch (51) posted his first half century of the campaign.  The Stars were well beaten in their last match, going down to the Brisbane Heat by nine wickets.

The player to watch:

When it comes to scoring runs on the MCG, there are few who compare to Brad Hodge.  The Victorian would love another big score on the ground where he has made his name.
