An early highlight for the Renegades was a spectacular catch by Zak Evans, running back with the flight at mid-on to take a full stretch diving catch to dismiss in-form batter Ben McDermott.
Evans then joined Cameron Boyce and Josh Lalor with a wicket, dismissing Matthew Wade for 48 runs.
Boyce and Lalor picked up two wickets each, while a late-order cameo for the Hurricanes via D’Arcy Short (37 off 22) and Tim David (46* off 20) saw them reach a total score of 5-182.
The Renegades then got to work with the bat, with James Seymour making a strong impact early, hitting a quickfire 24 off 13 deliveries.
It was the experienced heads that took charge, with Aaron Finch (75 off 52) and Shaun Marsh (51 off 38) combining for an outstanding partnership that featured some of the finest stroke play.
However, the Hurricanes managed to regain control of the contest late, with Sandeep Lamichhane and Tom Rogers providing crucial breakthroughs to halt any Renegades momentum.
15 runs were required off the final over, which was unfortunately too much for the Renegades.
The Renegades move to the MCG to face the Sydney Thunder tomorrow for their final game of the season.
