Leg spinner makes move to Sydney

Leg spin bowler Fawad Ahmed has left the Melbourne Renegades to join the Sydney Thunder, the club confirmed today.

Ahmed joined the Renegades 2012 and played three seasons for the club.

Melbourne Renegades CEO Stuart Coventry thanked Ahmed for his contribution.

"Fawad has been a great part of the Melbourne Renegades team since he joined us and everyone at the club wishes him the best," Coventry said.

Despite Ahmed's departure, the Renegades list looks strong for BBL|05 with a number of key player signings still to be announced.

The club raided cross-town rivals the Stars in March to sign all-rounder Cameron White as the first major player of the off-season.

New Renegades head coach David Saker is currently reviewing the squad and the club plans to make more major player announcements soon.

Current Melbourne Renegades squad list: Aaron Finch © , Cameron White, Matthew Wade, Peter Siddle, James Pattinson, Callum Ferguson, Nathan Rimmington, Tom Cooper, Tom Beaton,  Matthew Short and Nick Winter.
