Danni Wyatt returns to Renegades

06 August 2018

England international Danielle Wyatt will return to the Melbourne Renegades for the WBBL|04 campaign.

Wyatt, 27, has played 83 T20 Internationals for England and played for the Renegades during the first two seasons of the WBBL. Wyatt is one of four new additions to the squad with Courtney Webb, Erica Kershaw and Anna Lanning also joining the club.

Jess Duffin and Claire Koski have also re-signed providing a further boost to the Renegades playing stocks as the club looks to improve on its finish last season. Launceston product Webb joins the club for the first time this season and also plays for the Carlton in the AFLW.

“We’ve shown we’ve got a squad capable of beating the best sides in the competition and these signings will provide further depth while also ensuring there is fierce competition for spots in the final XI,” Renegades Coach Tim Coyle said.

“Danni will bring so much to our group not just through her cricketing talent and experience, but also the energy she provides around the group.

“Jess and Claire were key members of our squad last season and they will have important roles to play again. Anna and Erica have played at this level before and Courtney is an emerging talent that we’re really excited about.”

Wyatt is the club’s third international signing alongside returning New Zealand internationals Amy Satterthwaite and Lea Tahuhu.

Last December Wyatt was named in the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year alongside Tahuhu.

The honour followed her maiden T20I century against Australia in November. She also smashed 124 off just 64 balls against India earlier this year.

Wyatt played 27 matches for the Renegades in WBBL|01 and WBBL|02.

“The Big Bash is such a competitive and fun competition to be a part of so I’m really excited to be returning to the Renegades,” Wyatt said.

“I’ve played with a lot of the girls in the squad before so I’m looking forward to reuniting with them and embarking on what I hope will be a really special season for the club.”

Koski played all 14 games for the Renegades last season while Duffin averaged 30 runs in her ten games for the club.

Lanning joins the Renegades after being a regular member of the Melbourne Stars line-up last season.

Kershaw was a member of the Renegades inaugural campaign and Webb was part of Australia’s Under 19 tour of South Africa earlier this year.
