Cooper crowned Renegades BBL Player of the Year

29 March 2018

Tom Cooper has been named the Renegades BBL Player of the Season, as voted by the club’s members.

The 31-year-old demonstrated consistency, creativity and sheer brilliance on his way to a standout BBL|07 campaign.

Cooper scored 298 runs at an average of 49.67 and the healthy strike rate of 141.

“It’s a big honour to win this award because its voted on by the members who have been so loyal and supportive over the journey,” Cooper said.

“We made a lot of progress this season as a team and I feel with the continued support of our fans we’ll remain a strong contender.”

Cooper’s top score came against the Brisbane Heat when he smashed an unbeaten 65 off 36 balls. That night he also took a spectacular one-handed catch running back with the flight of the ball.

He scored 30 runs or more on five occasions and proved a reliable bowling option, often utilised throughout the powerplay.

The South Australian began his BBL career with Adelaide Strikers but crossed to the Renegades ahead of the BBL|02 campaign.

He’s gone on to play 46 games with the Renegades, a joint club record with Aaron Finch.
