Heading into the first Melbourne Derby of BBL|05, the Renegades have opted to make just one change to their 13-man squad, with the inclusion a new signing.
21-year-old Ben McDermott has been signed as an injury replacement for Callum Ferguson, out for the entire summer with a knee injury suffered in December.
McDermott has prior experience in the Big Bash League, playing two matches for the Brisbane Heat back in January 2014. Also able to take the gloves, the youngster offers another option if Matthew Wade is called up for international duty in the upcoming ODI series.
Nathan Hauritz is the player to make way out of the squad.
With both sides sitting on one win and two losses, the game takes on added significance and higher stakes. It will be extremely tough for the losing side to recover and make finals from 1-3, with the Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers looking like taking two of the four spots available, already with three wins each.
The Renegades will be looking to break a four-game losing streak, stretching back to BBL|03, against their cross town rivals in front of what will likely be a massive crowd at the MCG.
It is the second game in a double header, with the respective WBBL sides meeting earlier in the afternoon in the first ever meeting. It will also be televised live on Channel 10 in a major boost to the league.
