History

History

The Melbourne Renegades were formed in 2011 to compete in the Big Bash League against seven other clubs across Australia. The Renegades have played home games at Marvel Stadium since the club’s inception, while also hosting matches in Geelong since BBL|07.

The Melbourne Renegades have competed in the Women’s Big Bash League since the competition was formed in 2015.

Andrew McDonald was the inaugural Captain of the club’s BBL team while Sarah Elliott led the Renegades in their first WBBL campaign.

Aaron Finch led the club to its first title when the Renegades beat the Melbourne Stars in the BBL|08 Final on February 17, 2019 in front of 40,816 fans at Marvel Stadium.
