Alex Doolan is the name on everyone’s lips in Australian cricket circles.
The elegant right-hander has been making bowling attacks look pedestrian for a couple of seasons now and everyone has begun to take notice, with his name regularly mentioned as the next Test batsman.
In between posting a brilliant unbeaten 161 for Australia A against the touring South Africans at the SCG and plundering 715 runs for Tasmania last summer, Doolan played three matches for the Renegades in BBL|02, impressing with a composed 30 (28) in the heat of the second Melbourne derby.
Cricket is in in Doolan’s blood. His father, Bruce, played 12 games for Tasmania as a wicketkeeper in the 1970s.
Doolan has spent the off-season with the Australia A side in England, as well as playing for local side Kendal, and is ready to stamp his name on the BBL this season.
