Back in the national team, fan-favourite Jimmy Pattinson did not appear in red in BBL|05 as his workload continued to be managed between short and long-form cricket.
After boasting the most potent bowling attack in BBL|02, the Renegades stepped things up a notch with the acquisition of the best bowler in the country in BBL|03, James Pattinson.
Eight wickets in four games during BBL|03 provided a glimpse to the paceman's ability in the shortest form of the game. However a back injury meant Pattinson had a delayed start to BBL|04, recovery forcing his absence from trips to the SCG and the WACA to face the Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers respectively.
His much anticipated return came against the Sydney Thunder at Etihad Stadium, and Pattinson didn't disappoint. Ripping through the visitors' top order, Michael Hussey, Jacques Kallis and Andrew McDonald were all bowled in the first few overs.
Pattinson ended as the equal leading wicket taker for the Renegades in BBL|04, taking seven in five games with an economy rate of just seven per over.
Injury kept Pattinson from adding to his total in BBL|05, unable to play a game for the tournament.
