The players' thoughts: WBBL Week 1

09 December 2016

The WBBL Renegades share their thoughts about opening weekend

How are you feeling about the first weekend?

Molly Strano: “Yeah I’m pumped. A televised game first up at North Sydney, it’ll be good fun to be out on the park with these girls again.

“We have a tough battle in the Strikers girls who are a really polished outfit so it will be a good battle, and I think all the girls will be pumped to be out there to showcase their skills.”

Amy Yates: “I’m so excited, I’m not sure I’ll sleep.

“I didn’t sleep on Sunday night (before the team’s first day together) as I was that excited to meet all the girls.

“So it’s going to be interesting to see how I go Friday night, but it’s so good.”

Sophie Molineux: “I’m feeling really good. We’ve had the week to meet each other and bind the team together.

“Our training sessions have helped as well, it’s exciting and I can’t wait to get into it.”

Maitlan Brown: “I’m very excited, it’s at North Sydney which is a great ground.

“They’re also televising it so it also just adds to the excitement of the first round, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Lea Tahuhu: “Obviously the first season had everything in it. It was a pretty exciting competition to sit back and watch.

“Now this year, given the opportunity to come over and be a part of it, I can’t wait to be involved.”

Kirsty Lamb: “There’s going to be a few debutants and I’m really excited for the girls.

“I hope they take it in their stride, don’t put themselves under too much pressure and go out there and have fun.”
