Melbourne Renegades batsman Marlon Samuels is on his way to Australia after completing his international commitments with a man-of-the-match performance for the West Indies in Bangladesh.
In the one-off T20 international in Mirpur, Samuels smashed 85 not out from just 43 balls to lead his side to an 18–run victory.
Samuels is due to arrive in Sydney tomorrow to prepare for his first match with the Renegades against Sydney Thunder at Stadium Australia on Friday night.
The 31 year-old’s innings included 9 sixes, with his final 58 runs coming from only 19 deliveries.
Samuels has been in prolific form over the last 12 months, with his tour of Bangladesh including a career-high 260 in the second Test in Khulna and match-winning 126 in the third one-day international in Dhaka.
Samuels was also man-of-the-match in the ICC World T20 Final, where he belted 78 off 56 to lead the West Indies to their first international title in over 30 years.
The right-hander will add further strength to the Renegades batting order which includes in-form skipper Aaron Finch, Dan Harris and Ben Rohrer.
