Can you topple Marlon's Men in Fantasy BBL?

When I signed with the Melbourne Renegades I knew there would be plenty of challenges – missing the first match due to my commitments with the West Indies, reacclimatising to Australian conditions, playing under a roof at Etihad Stadium – but one thing I wasn’t expecting was the task of being the Renegades representative for Fantasy Cricket in BBL|02.

With the help of the team at the Renegades, who explained the rules of fantasy cricket to me, I’ve built a team that contains a good base of West Indian flair and local talent who can change the course of matches.

Add Marlon’s Men to your league at http://fantasy.bigbash.com.au/league.

Here’s the basis of my team:

Batsmen

C Gayle (Thunder), P Hughes (Strikers), A Finch (Renegades), C Ferguson (Strikers)

Two of these picks were not negotiable, with my captain for the West Indies and the Renegades demanding selection. Chris Gayle is the best T20 batsman in the world, and even though he’ll miss the first game he should make up for that and more. Aaron Finch was the Renegades leading scorer last year and picking him should bolster my batting and improve my chances of a bowl!

My other two batsmen are Phil Hughes and Callum Ferguson from the Strikers, who hit hard square of the wicket and have the potential to score big at Adelaide Oval.

All-rounders

D Hussey (Stars) and K Pollard (Strikers)

These guys pick themselves. Both players are so adaptable with bat and ball and have the skills to win a match from any situation.  Hopefully the Renegades can stifle Hussey in the derby on Friday night – we’re a big chance of winning if we can!

Bowlers

J Krejza (Hurricanes), W Sheridan (Renegades), N Hauritz (Heat), J Mennie (Scorchers)

When it comes to bowlers in T20, I’m looking for wicket-takers. Talking to the staff at the Renegades, Will Sheridan is someone to watch this season. Apart from his bowling, his late hitting could also be vital. Jason Krejza rips the ball and can get on a roll with an early breakthrough. Nathan Hauritz is a clever death bowler and Joe Mennie is a young guy who made an impression at the Champions League in South Africa.

I’ll be looking to make a few subs throughout the season, particularly for my West Indies teammates, but I think I’ve got the team here to challenge for the title in any league.
