Strauchanie's message for Warnie

Melbourne Renegades ‘President’ Bryan ‘Strauchanie’ Strauchan has stirred the pot with a cheeky message for Stars Captain Shane Warne ahead of the 7 December Melbourne derby at Etihad Stadium.

Footage of Strauchan hanging a handmade banner on the leg-spinner’s front fence was today released by the Renegades, carrying wording to the effect of “Warnie… You’ve been Renegade-ed. P.S. Say ‘hi’ to Liz!”

After forcing three Renegades players to detour the team mini-bus from training, Strauchanie explained his plot to an unimpressed Will Sheridan, Michael Hill and Darren Pattinson.

“You know whose house that is? It’s Warnie’s house. It’s not Murali’s house – Murali’s house is much bigger than that,” he said.

“Now we’re all going to send a message because we’re Renegades so let’s get on the front foot.”

Strauchan also used the trip to test the allegiances of Pattinson, who played one Test match for England in 2008.

The imposing paceman confirmed he was 100 per cent dedicated to the Renegades’ cause and was ready to begin the season with a bang against the Stars.

Strauchan was optimistic about the team’s chances in the big game, particularly given that Duckworth Lewis would play no role in deciding the result at Etihad Stadium.

“Duckworth Lewis [isn’t] playing this year. He’s a hack,” Strauchan said.

“It’s Renegades versus Stars. It’s Strauchanie versus Eddie. It’s Murali versus Warnie. It’s possibly the biggest match-up in the history of cricket.”

The Renegades are preparing for a blockbuster season opener against the Stars at the 7 December derby, with adult tickets starting at just $20 at the gate and five-game adult memberships beginning at $70.
